4 months and 12 days since
the event.
Tori Reese Wilensky was born on August 10, 2010 to Heather and Eric Wilensky. She joined her big sister Jenna and big brother Brandon. On August 4, 2012 she died tragically in her sleep the night after her second birthday party. Tori's death was ruled Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). SUDC is defined as "the sudden and unexpected death of a child over the age of 12 months, which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation is conducted. This must include: examination of the death scene, performance of a complete autopsy and a review of the child and family's medical history. SUDC is a diagnosis of exclusion- given when all known and possible causes of death have been ruled out." To say we were shocked and devastated at her untimely loss is an understatement and to know that there was not a reason was unbearable for us.

Soon after Tori's death a Foundation was established in her name.   The annual event Moves Like Tori, now going on its fourth year  will raise money for various charitable organizations important to the Wilensky Family.  Last year some of these organizations included The Willow House and the YMCA. The majority of funds will be donated to www. SUDC.org, an organization that has tremendously helped families like ours during this unimaginable loss.  For the past 2 years The Tori Wilensky Foundation paired with Backpack Blessings, at Temple Jeremiah, an organization which sends home backpacks filled with food for the weekend for 100 kids in the Highland Park area who otherwise may not have food to eat.  Please visit http://www.templejeremiah.org  (get involved) to learn more about this amazing program or sign up to volunteer.
